Meet Stephanie
Stephanie Wagemann is the creative force behind Coach Birdie and your go-to expert for learning to play and love the game of golf! As a former collegiate golf standout for the University of Illinois, Stephanie brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted love for the game. Boasting a top ten career scoring average and armed with a degree in kinesiology, Stephanie began her teaching career as the Assistant Golf Professional at Champaign Country Club. There, she taught ladies' clinics, junior programs, and individual lessons, all while obtaining her Personal Training Certification and instructing fitness classes.
In 2010, Steph returned to the University of Illinois, this time as the Assistant Women's Golf Coach under her own college coach. She was part of the coaching team that helped the Fighting Illini jump 50 places in the rankings, earning their first NCAA Regional appearance since 2004. As life evolved, Steph left her coaching position to start a family and is now the proud mother of four boys!
Despite her busy schedule, she continues to share her expertise by teaching private golf lessons and ladies' group clinics, amassing over 15 years of experience, and helping thousands of golfers of all skill levels. Her unwavering passion for golf and her recognition of women as an underrepresented and significantly underserved group in the golfing world ultimately led her to start Coach Birdie, where she continues to welcome new golfers into the game with her down-to-earth approach. Get ready to learn, improve, and fall in love with golf under Steph's guidance!
